緬甸民主運動代表人物、諾貝爾和平獎得主、緬甸全國民主聯盟主席翁山蘇姬應中共邀請，10日抵達大陸訪問，中共中央總書記習近平將和她會面。廣州暨南大學緬甸研究專家林錫星說，習近平與外國反對派人士會面，是非常不尋常的做法，緬甸當局無視北京對邊界暴力的抗議，讓中方感到厭倦，「或許翁山蘇姬可利用影響力，牽線中止衝突」
